ED ANDERSON

William E. Anderson died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on July 30, 2023. He was born to his parents Joseph and Mary Anderson on August 21, 1943, and grew up in the small town of Prospect, Ohio, as an only child.

Shortly after graduating from high school, Ed enlisted and proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corp. On December 27, 1963, he married the love of his life, Sondra McPherson. Ed and Sonni raised their children, Brian and Kim, in Sandusky, Ohio, where they enjoyed living near Lake Erie and Cedar Point. Family was very important to both of them, never missing a sporting event or any other extra-curricular activity.

Sales and service were staples in Ed’s career, but he was most proud of his years serving as a State Highway Patrolman for Ohio. Outside of work, Ed served in many leadership roles through the American Legion. His most notable positions were the Department of Ohio Commander in 2006 as well as serving on the National Convention Committee most recently.

Ed loved to talk sports with any willing participant, and was pretty good at playing them too. He competed in track at the state level and gained the nick name “long-legged hilligan” when he first met his future father-in-law. Throughout his life he enjoyed golf, bowling and darts. He was a big fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Sonni. Left to cherish his memory are his children Brian (Chris) Anderson, and Kim (Craig) Vogl; grandchildren, Eric, Jonathan, Corey, Nick and Allison, and many other family members and friends.

Graveside services will be held on September 9, 2023, at 11:00 am, Prospect, Ohio. Luncheon following at the Prospect American Legion Hall.
