Douglas “Doug” Easterly,89, of Wentzville, MO, formerly of Troy, MO, passed away on March 31, 2024 at Twin Oaks at Heritage Pointe. He was born on September 11, 1934 in Harriett, Arkansas to Willie and Grace (McClung) Easterly. He attended the local schools along with his siblings and graduated from high school in Big Flat, Arkansas. On April 9, 1955 he was united in marriage with Rena Jo Mize. To this union were born two children; Randy and Rena. The family moved to St. Louis from Arkansas because of Doug’s employment at General Motors. Doug was a pipefitter for over 40 years, until his retirement. He is described by his family as; kind, gentle and caring. Doug had a good sense of humor and was always willing to help anyone in need. He was a coach to both of the kid’s baseball and softball teams. Some of his leisure activities were; fishing, bowling, bingo and playing cards. He will be sadly missed and long remembered by all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his children, Randy and wife Mary Ellen of Troy, MO, Rena and husband Gary Buford of Troy, MO, grandchildren, Sam (Christina) Easterly, Pete Easterly, Tom Easterly, Kyle (Corey) Buford, Nathan Buford, great-grandchildren, Noel and Callan Easterly and Josiah Easterly, many other relatives and friends.
Doug was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rena Jo Easterly, his parents and siblings, Levaughn, Norma and Bennie.
Visitation to be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m., at the McCoy-Blossom Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1304 Boone Street, Troy, MO, 63379, 636-528-8244.
A memorial service will also be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, 1:00 p.m., at the funeral home in Troy. Rev. Dr. Jeff Moore to officiate.
